FAQ

Does Seven Starling accept my insurance?

Answer +

close -

Seven Starling accepts many commercial insurance plans. Book a free consult here with one of our friendly care coordinators and they can check your insurance benefits directly as well as help you get started. Coverage varies by state, but some of the plans we accept include Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, CareFirst, United Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. We do not accept Medicaid at this time.

We offer support for out-of-network reimbursement and have a care team on hand to help explain how it works and provide the paperwork you'll need. We'll check these benefits on your consult as well so you can have the full picture of what you're eligible for.

Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for Seven Starling?

Yes! Most Health Savings Accounts provide a debit card that can be used to process payments. Just update your payment method in the desktop version of the Seven Starling app with your HSA/FSA card details, and your subscription will be automatically charged to the payment method on file.

How am I matched with a therapist?

Answer +

After you sign up for Seven Starling, we’ll ask you a few additional questions about your individual preferences, therapy goals, and mental health history. We’ll use this information to match you with a licensed therapist that meets your needs and is licensed to support you in your state. 98% of Seven Starling members stay with their first match.

Can I change my therapist if they aren't a fit?

Answer +

If you feel that your therapist is not the right fit for you or have a concern about your care, please let us know by emailing us at support@sevenstarling.com. We will do our best to find a therapist that is a better match for your needs.

Our therapists have been qualified and certified by their state of licensure after completion of the necessary education, exams, and training.

Who is Seven Starling a good fit for?

Answer +

close -

Seven Starling is designed for people experiencing Anxiety, Depression or Trauma during fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, abortion, pregnancy, postpartum, or early parenthood. In order to join Seven Starling you must be 18 years or older and currently reside in one of the states we support. Book a free consult with one of our friendly Care Coordinators to see if we're available in your area and to get your insurance benefits checked.

Seven Starling is not a good fit for people looking for emergency support or for people who have a history of Schizophrenia, Psychosis or Bipolar disorder. We strongly believe the best care model for these conditions is in person care and encourage you to seek support. Visit the "Resources" tab on our website to browse trusted alternative resources.

What is group therapy?

Answer +

close -

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a small group of participants meet to discuss their experiences with a licensed therapist. Group therapy is different from individual therapy in that it offers opportunities to receive and give support to peers going through similar experiences.

How am I matched to a group?

Answer +

close -

If group therapy is part of your care plan, you are matched with your group of 10 or less based on what you're currently experiencing (e.g., pregnant, postpartum, experiencing loss), state of residence, schedule, and therapy goals. We take all of these factors into consideration when choosing the best group for you.

When does my group meet?

Answer +

close -

If a group is part of your care plan, we will work with you to find a group that meets your schedule. Your group sessions will be at the same time and day every other week unless prior arrangements are made to accommodate scheduling conflicts. While your group forms, you may have weekly individual sessions with your therapist. You can view your upcoming appointments by accessing the Sessions tab in your Seven Starling app.

How many group vs individual sessions do I get per month?

Answer +

close -

If group therapy is part of your care plan, your plan includes 2 individual therapy sessions and 2 group therapy sessions per month. We advise booking your individual therapy sessions on the weeks you don’t have group therapy so that you have one appointment per week. Your group may not form right away. While your group forms, you may have weekly individual sessions with your therapist.

Does Seven Starling offer medication management?

Answer +

close -

Yes. Many women suffering from maternal mental health challenges can benefit from a combination of therapy and medication. Offering this service at Seven Starling is part of our holistic approach to care and we’re thrilled to make accessing it even easier. Note: At this time we’re not able to offer medications to pregnant patients. Pregnant patients who think they might benefit from medication should consult their OB care provider.
