Can I change my therapist if they aren't a fit?

What credentials do Seven Starling therapists have?

All Seven Starling therapists are masters level experienced clinicians who are licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) or licensed professional therapists (LPC). Our therapists have been qualified and certified by their state of licensure after completion of the necessary education, exams, and training.

Seven Starling is designed for people experiencing Anxiety, Depression or Trauma during fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, abortion, pregnancy, postpartum, or early parenthood. In order to join Seven Starling you must be 18 years or older and currently reside in one of the states we support. Book a free consult with one of our friendly Care Coordinators to see if we're available in your area and to get your insurance benefits checked.

Seven Starling is not a good fit for people looking for emergency support or for people who have a history of Schizophrenia, Psychosis or Bipolar disorder. What is group therapy?

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a small group of participants meet to discuss their experiences with a licensed therapist. Groups are a safe space to harness your support network of other women on the same journey as you. In each session, your group therapist will share educational and self care tools and you'll have the option to discuss your experience or just listen.

How am I matched to a group?

If group therapy is part of your care plan, you are matched with your group of 10 or less based on what you're currently experiencing (e.g., pregnant, postpartum, experiencing loss), state of residence, schedule, and therapy goals. We take all of these factors into consideration when choosing the best group for you.


When does my group meet?

If a group is part of your care plan, we will work with you to find a group that meets your schedule. Your group sessions will be at the same time and day every other week unless prior arrangements are made to accommodate scheduling conflicts. While your group forms, you may have weekly individual sessions with your therapist. You can view your upcoming appointments by accessing the Sessions tab in your Seven Starling app.


Does Seven Starling offer medication management?

Yes! Many women suffering from maternal mental health challenges can benefit from a combination of therapy and medication. Offering this service at Seven Starling is part of our holistic approach to care and we’re thrilled to make accessing it even easier. Note: At this time we’re not able to offer medications to pregnant patients. Pregnant patients who think they might benefit from medication should consult their OB care provider.

Does Seven Starling provide assessment or paperwork for FMLA, Social Security Disability, or other similar programs?

Seven Starling does not provide assessments or participate in the completion of paperwork/forms for the following (not a complete list): Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave Of Absence, Social Security Disability, Emotional Support Animal, Hormone Replacement Therapy, Custodial/Forensic Evaluation, Fitness for Duty/Return to Work, Housing Evaluations. Questions related to this documentation can be addressed to a primary care provider or alternate behavioral health provider.

Does Seven Starling accept my insurance?

Seven Starling accepts most commercial insurance plans. Book a free consult here with one of our friendly care coordinators and they can check your insurance benefits directly as well as help you get started. Coverage varies by state, but some of the plans we accept include Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, CareFirst, United Healthcare, Kaiser, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. We do not accept Medicaid at this time.

We offer support for out-of-network reimbursement and have a care team on hand to help explain how it works and provide the paperwork you'll need. We'll check these benefits on your consult as well so you can have the full picture of what you're eligible for.

Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for Seven Starling?

Yes! Most Health Savings Accounts provide a debit card that can be used to process payments. Just update your payment method in the desktop version of the Seven Starling app with your HSA/FSA card details, and your subscription will be automatically charged to the payment method on file.

If your claim is rejected, inform the Seven Starling Support team of the rejection by emailing support@sevenstarling.com. Please include any information about the rejected claim if you have it, such as a coding problem or additional details. We will do our best to generate a new superbill for you with alternative coding that may meet your insurer’s unique requirements.

For out-of-network members, your plan includes a number of pre-paid, nonrefundable session credits that must be used in the billing period they are purchased. Credits can be used to flexibly and conveniently book sessions directly from your account and will renew according to the same cadence as your billing cycle. Patients can sign up for a free consult to receive a benefits check as coverage varies by state and plan. Our Care Coordinators are on hand to help your patient with Superbills and out-of-network claims. Seven Starling is also HSA/FSA eligible.

When will my patient be seen?

Your patient will be seen within about a week of beginning therapy. We make immediate contact with your patient when they book a free consultation via the referral card. After signing up, your patient is matched with a therapist within 3 business days and on average will have their first therapy appointment scheduled within 7 business days.

Yes! We support expecting parents as early as 8 weeks into their pregnancy and as late as 2 years into postpartum. Your friend or family member will be matched with a group of people with a similar due date and an expert Doula that will guide them every step of the way. All of their support will be personalized for their stage, whether that's learning childbirth education topics or discussing newborn care and beyond.

Does Seven Starling include Childbirth and Parenting Education?

What happens after I sign up for a membership?

Welcome! We're so excited to have you. Once you've signed up for a membership, we'll schedule a call to match you with your expert and small group. Matching is done by hand to make sure you have the perfect experience. You'll then meet with your expert Doula one on one to get to know each other and then will join your small group sessions every other week. You'll also receive access to the Seven Starling app right away, so you can start diving in to content relevant to your stage.

Can my partner join my sessions?

We love to involve partners and will let you know which sessions are best for them to join. We design specific sessions around conversations where we think it's important for partners to attend (your expert will remind you when those are!).

What if I can't make it to one of my live sessions?

The foundation of Seven Starling is the small group experience, so we highly encourage you to attend your live sessions if you can! That said, we know life gets in the way. Your program is full of lessons, video learnings, and exercises to help you catch up if you miss a session. And, your dedicated expert is always there via chat for questions you have!

I've already had my baby, is a Seven Starling membership right for me?

Absolutely! Postpartum is when $#!+ gets real and you'll need support more than ever. Join Seven Starling anytime up to 3 months after your delivery and get expert support continuing up to 1 year+. Meet bi-weekly with your expert and small group and get content designed specifically for your stage (think feeding, sleeping, mental health, or just having some space to vent!).

Does a Seven Starling membership replace Childbirth Education classes?

Yes! Our memberships cover all of the core childbirth education topics, including stages of labor, pain management options, what to bring to the hospital, and more. Our curriculum is OBGYN-approved and designed to help you feel prepared and confident, going beyond traditional childbirth ed to cover topics like newborn safety, pelvic floor strength, and the emotional and physical changes that accompany pregnancy and early parenthood.

When should I start my membership?

Get started as early as 8 weeks into your pregnancy and as late as 3 months into postpartum. Your expert will tailor your program to the stage you're at and support you up to 1 year into parenthood (& growing!).

Childbirth education topics like those covered in weeks ~28-35 of our membership are typically eligible, but it varies by health plan and state. We encourage you to confirm with your plan and are happy to send you a detailed overview of the content included in your program and the expert who will be leading it. Is Seven Starling covered by insurance?

Most commercial health plans reimburse up to $150 for childbirth education classes. This means you can get a few months of Full Circle pregnancy membership or up to a few classes reimbursed, as long as they cover childbirth education content. Every health plan differs though and we encourage you to reach out to your plan to confirm what is included in your policy. We know insurance can be confusing -- we're here to help!  Just send us a note at support@sevenstarling.com and we can help you coordinate our out-of-network reimbursement.
